Some days I feel unstoppable. Other days… I don’t.
If life’s been feeling like a rollercoaster lately, you’re not alone especially if you’re in your 40s or 50s and beyond.
Some mornings, you wake up ready to take on the world. Other days, you just want to stay in bed and disappear.
Sound familiar?
A client recently shared something that really struck a chord. She was confused by her wildly fluctuating energy levels. Why some days she felt unstoppable, and others, she could barely function.
“Why do I feel like this?” she asked.
The truth is, there’s rarely one clear answer.
It might be one thing or a few things layered together: hormones, health, stress, life circumstances. Sometimes they build quietly. Other times, they hit all at once.
Either way, the weight can feel overwhelming.
And yet, we rarely talk about it.
Why?
Because somewhere along the way, most of us were taught to keep it together, to be capable, composed, and selfless. And in taking care of everything and everyone else, we often lose the space to check in with ourselves, let alone talk about how we are feeling.
That’s why I’m starting this newsletter.
To explore the reality of this time of life; the struggles, the confusion, the emotions we don’t always talk about.
As a coach, I’ve talked to many women who feel lost, or even ashamed, of their struggles.
From the outside, their lives might look picture-perfect: family, home, career.
But inside? Something feels... off.
Society tells us we should be grateful. That we should be happy. And when we’re not, we start to believe there’s something wrong with us.
But there’s not.
We’re not broken. We’re human.
And being human is messy, and complex.
Here’s the good news:
If we’re willing to do some inner exploration and take a look at what may no longer be serving us, this stage of life can be an opportunity to truly get to know ourselves.
A chance to pause and ask:
Am I living the life I want?
Have I been on autopilot, always prioritising others over myself?
What do I actually want now?
I’m not saying we need to blow up our lives!
I am saying we owe it to ourselves to take an honest look.
If something isn’t working, let’s explore why.
And if something needs to change, let’s ask: what is that?
Let’s get clear on who we want to be, and how we want to feel.
My personal goals?
To feel strong - physically, emotionally and mentally.
To experience joy.
To find calm in what often feels like a chaotic world.
I’m hoping that by working on these goals, I’ll wake up (most) mornings feeling energised and ready to take on the day.
Every two weeks, I’ll share insights, tools, and stories to help us build that energy so we can thrive and truly enjoy our lives. Not just push through them.
If this resonates, I’d love for you to be part of the conversation.
And if now’s not the right time, that’s okay too. You can unsubscribe anytime. No hard feelings.
If there’s one thing this time of life has taught me, it’s this:
Don’t take things personally.
(Though I wish I’d learned that a little sooner!)
